Mahatma Gandhi Teaching Corner

The Bhatia-Kotte family

When considering schools for our children, Pace Academy stood out for many reasons: academic excellence, extracurricular opportunities and school size—and especially the exciting plans to transform the Lower School through the Accelerate Pace campaign. We also sensed that Pace would be a community welcoming and inclusive of all members, and since enrolling our children, this has indeed been our experience. We so appreciate our Pace “family” that supports and values each unique family and every child.

As we have considered our family’s gift to the Accelerate Pace campaign, we believe there is a unique opportunity to reinforce this sense of community at Pace. Or, in the words of the campaign theme—to Accelerate Community!

Many families are naming spaces on campus through a campaign gift, and we plan to do the same. We have reserved an area within the Kam Memar Lower School’s newly renovated Soni Family Library—but our wish in doing so is to create a space that offers universal appeal. We will be naming this space for Mahatma Gandhi, whose messages about love, learning, peace and more still resonate today. Our goal is for the Mahatma Gandhi Teaching Corner to be a peaceful, inviting space for our youngest students that promotes high ideals for thinking and learning and celebrates all that is right about the Pace community.

To Accelerate Community and the campaign, we have decided to expand our philanthropic footprint and invite other families to join us. If families are also inspired by the teachings of Gandhi and would like to participate in Accelerating Community at Pace, we invite Pace parents to partner with us in support of the Mahatma Gandhi Teaching Corner. If a family makes a gift to the campaign and wishes to celebrate Gandhi, their name will be recognized in a special donor listing included in campaign recognition and the school’s Annual Report. For every gift made for this purpose by June 30, 2022, we will match dollar for dollar to Accelerate Pace!

I share our philanthropic story to invite you to join us. But most importantly, as philanthropic leaders of our school, I ask you to consider increasing your own commitment, or encouraging others to support Accelerate Pace. Our school NEEDS you!
